Puerto Rico is a vibrant and diverse island in the Caribbean. From its colorful streets, to crystal clear beaches, and impressive waterfalls the most Instagrammable places in Puerto Rico are endless! I’ve been lucky enough to visit twice yet still hope to go back and explore more in the futre. If you’re planning a trip to the island make sure to pack your cameras and don’t miss any of these photo worthy spots!
MOST INSTAGRAMMABLE PLACES IN PUERTO RICO
1. Salinas de Cabo Rojo
The Salinas de Cabo Rojo are salt flats on the south western coast of the island. Their light pink hues are what make them so special and subsequently one of the most Instagrammable places in Puerto Rico! In order to preserve the area only walk along the paths and avoid touching or dropping anything in the water.
2. Faro los Morrillos
Just a short drive from the salt flats you will find the Faro los Morrillos in Cabo Rojo. This pastel colored lighthouse is perched on a small hill and has the most breathtaking views of the ocean and nearby beach. To reach the lighthouse you will need to park at the designated spot and walk up the rocky path. I highly recommend packing comfortable shoes for the walk and going early in the morning to avoid the hot sun!
3. Streets of San Juan
The streets of Old San Juan are full of endless photo opportunities! La Fortaleza in front of the Governor’s Mansion has a display of colorful umbrellas that are constantly rotating depending on the upcoming holidays. Everywhere you turn you’ll find pastel colored buildings that make for the perfect photo backdrop!
4. Black Flag Mural
The Black Flag Mural in Viejo San Juan is one of the most Instagrammable places in Puerto Rico! The mural is on an abandoned building on one of the side streets of Old San Juan. The black flag represents Puerto Rico’s cry for independence and its fight against injustice.
Address: Found on Calle De San Jose between Calle De Sol and Calle De Sebastian.
5. Castillo San Felipe del Morro
Also known as, “El Morro” Castillo San Felipe del Morro is one of the two forts that used to protect the city. It has stunning views of the ocean and is a great spot to catch the sunset! Other than being one of the most instagrammable places in Puerto Rico, El Morro is also a must see on your trip to the island. The entrance fee is around $10 and also includes entry to the nearby Castillo San Cristobal.
Address: 501 Calle Norzagaray, San Juan, 00901
6. Buye Beach
Playa Buye in Cabo Rojo is one of the clearest and bluest beaches on the island. It’s endless palm trees and crystalline calm waters make for a great photo spot. Not to mention it’s the perfect place to cool off from the island heat. Arrive early for a good spot and watch out for the free roaming iguanas!
7. El Yunque National Rainforest
As the only National Rainforest in the United States, El Yunque is a must when visiting Puerto Rico! From refreshing waterfalls, to stunning viewpoints you’ll have endless photo opportunities. You can either book a tour or wander the forest on your own for a day of adventure.
8. Yaucromatic
Yaucromatic is not as well known among tourists, yet it is quite a popular photo spot among the Puerto Rican locals! This Instagrammable spot is an urban art installation completed by several local artists in the town of Yauco. It’s known for its geometric and bright colored murals painted on local buildings and homes.
Address: 29-37 Calle E Sanchez Lopez, Yauco, 00698

The Rock Bridge/ Natural Bridge is one of the most popular spots on the western coast and definitely one of the most Instagrammable places in Puerto Rico! Take a photo from the opposite cliff facing the bridge or cross the bridge (if you dare) for a different perspective! This popular spot is an easy walk from Faro de los Morrillos.
10. Barrachina
Barrchina in Old San Juan claims to be the birth place of the original piña colada! They have a picturesque interior courtyard where you can enjoy your refreshing piña colada while also taking a few cute shots. This location always has quite a long wait but they do have the option to order your drinks at the bar to go if you don’t wish to wait for a table.
